While working in the center, computer tutors are available to help students who have little or no previous experience with computers. The tutors can also assist students with registering for classes on CUNY first; accessing Degree Works, Schedule Builder, and the Library's databases; scanning documents; and other activities.
Students may borrow skeletons, bones, human organ models, microscopes, and slides for use in the center. The borrowing student's ID card will be held in the center until the materials are returned.
While participating in any of the services in the Atrium Learning Center, students will be expected to comply with the policies listed below.
Students who participate in tutoring need to have their names and EMPL IDs available in order to sign in for their tutorial session(s).
Please observe the Food and Drink policy which is to eat and drink beverages outside of the center. Lab personnel and tutors are instructed to enforce this policy. There are no exceptions.
Each user needs to use his/her assigned City Tech Active Directory (AD) account user name and password or use his/her EMPID as the user name and password to log in to the computers. Since there is no time limit on how long a student may use a computer, it is suggested he/she uses it to complete academic work.
When a student is participating in an online class or listening to an online video, he/she must wear headphones and place the volume at a reasonable level.
Cell phones, tablets, and laptops can be charged in the surge protectors located at the charging stations. Students should not plug any electronic devices in to the wall outlets in the computer lab.
Students may print 30 pages per day, double sided.
The center does have a recycling bin. White paper refuse should be placed in that bin.
If at any time a student is unable to get the help he/she needs, the student should inform the person in charge or fill out the ALC Feedback Form. He or she may also let the center know when it does something well. Either way, the student will receive a response from the director within a week to 10 days.
