Everyone wants to get some of that paper, but then what? How do you actually save money and accumulate wealth? Learning how to deal with finances can be tricky, but we want to help! The Student Success Center's MoneyWi$e Program invites students to a series of workshops, hosted by the financial planning professionals, that covers financial topics such as: credit cards, debt, payday apps, investing, understanding paycheck deductions, and the ins and outs of responsible money management. Peer MoneyWi$e Advisors will work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce concepts from the workshops. Students who participate in all five workshops will receive a savings account start-up deposit and be entered in a raffle to win a grand prize.

Currently Recruiting

Peer MoneyWi$e Advisors for Fall 2023

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Completed at least 24 credits or 2 semesters at City Tech
  • Able to attend all five workshops
  • Able to dedicate an additional 5 hours each month to following up with and recruiting workshop attendees
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Have sincere interest in helping fellow students learning about finances

Peer Advisors will be given an industry professional as a mentor. This position is compensated with a stipend.

Todo el mundo quiere conseguir un poco de dinero, pero ¿y luego qué? ¿Cómo se ahorra dinero y se acumula riqueza? Aprender a manejar las finanzas puede ser complicado, ¡pero queremos ayudar! El Programa MoneyWise del Student Success Center (Centro de Éxito Estudiantil) invita al estudiantado a una serie de talleres, presentados por el Financial Planning Association of Metro New York, que cubre temas financieros como: tarjetas de crédito, deudas, aplicaciones digitales de pago, inversiones, comprensión de las deducciones de cheques de pago y los detalles de la administración responsable del dinero. Los Asesores de MoneyWise trabajar´n con cada estudiante individualmente y en pequeños grupos para reforzar los conceptos aprendidos en los talleres. Cualquier estudiante que participe en los cinco talleres recibirá un depósito inicial en una cuenta de ahorros y participará en una rifa para ganar un gran premio.
