Student Life and Development Office

The Office of Student Life and Development (SLD) serves as the heart of student engagement at City Tech. We oversee a wide range of areas including the Student Government Association (SGA), the N.E.S.T. (Nourish, Empower, Support, Transform), Student Clubs and Organizations, Campus Events, and the Peer Navigator Program.

We are committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive campus environment where students not only succeed academically but also grow personally and socially. We believe that student engagement outside the classroom is essential to a well-rounded college experience. Through Student Activities and Community Building, we strive to make campus life more lively and meaningful not just stressful.

Student Activities

This category encompasses student-led initiatives that promote leadership, advocacy, and student-driven programming.

  • Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association is the official representative body for students, advocating on behalf of the student population to administration, faculty, and the college community. Comprising seven executive officers and thirteen senators, SGA ensures that student voices are heard in campus policy matters. It also allocates and manages the student activity fee and supports all recognized student clubs and organizations.
  • Clubs and Student Organizations
Student clubs are a vital part of college life, allowing students with shared interests to come together, collaborate, and host events. They help students build friendships, explore new passions, and extend learning beyond the classroom.
    • Club Hours: Thursdays, 12:45 - 2:15 p.m. (Fall/Spring semesters)
    • For club events and meeting info, visit City Tech Connect.

Community Building

This category focuses on creating supportive, engaging spaces that promote well-being, connection, and inclusivity on campus.

  • Campus Events
SLD hosts a wide variety of cultural, educational, and seasonal events throughout the semester. These events are designed to reduce stress, celebrate diversity, and build a stronger campus community.
  • Peer Navigator Program
The Peer Navigator Program helps students adjust to college life by offering one-on-one peer support. Navigators guide students through campus resources, help them understand college policies, and connect them to mental health and wellness services. The goal is to empower students to thrive academically, socially, and personally within a welcoming and inclusive community.

Resources and Leadership Opportunities

Student Life & Development connects you with valuable support and growth opportunities on campus.

The N.E.S.T. Resource Center provides free access to food, toiletries, and other essentials to help students thrive both in and out of the classroom. It also hosts seasonal drives and wellness events to promote community care and resource-sharing. All currently enrolled CUNYstudents are welcome to visit and learn about opportunities for support. Learn more about the NEST Resource Center.

Through the National Society of Leadership and Success (N.S.L.S.), students can develop their leadership skills, build professional networks, and earn scholarships to supplement their education. Members participate in leadership training, speaker series, and goal-setting sessions designed to foster personal and professional success. Learn more about N.S.L.S.
