Welcome to the CTTE Department! We offer two unique Bachelor of Science in Education degree programs in Career Technical Education (CTE) and Technology Education. Specifically, we offer various teaching certificate programs, including CTE Initial/Professional, CTE Transitional A, Technology Education Initial, Technology Education Supplementary, Technology Education Transitional C, and Work-Based Learning Certificates. The CTE program in New York City has a long and unique history, boasting a large number of teachers and administrators among CityTech’s CTTE alumni. Additionally, our Technology Education program is the only public school south of Albany, covering New York City and nearby areas.

In the fast-evolving high-tech industries, there is a growing demand for individuals with technological literacy. Our CTE and Technology Education programs are designed to cultivate skilled educators with technical competencies, a caring disposition, up-to-date teaching and learning theories, and professional knowledge. These areas are not only essential in New York State but also nationally. Due to the shortage of teachers in these fields, there will be a lot of job opportunities for prospective educators. Teachers in New York State, in particular, are offered unbreakable work benefits, including competitive starting salaries, 10-month contracts, health insurance, professional development, and outstanding pension systems.

Students in the CTTE department can gain valuable experience and expertise through various avenues, such as pedagogy and content courses, internships, teacher workshops, and research programs both on and off-campus. The department collaborates with the college’s undergraduate research programs, where students can work on projects with our faculty members. Additionally, there are scholarship opportunities available through programs such as Success Via Apprenticeship (SVA), My Brother's Keeper's Teacher Opportunity Corp (TOC) II, and Men Teach.

Our main goal at the CTTE Department is to support future educators in their success with technical skills, professional knowledge, and caring disposition. For more information about the program, please explore the department's website. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the faculty for guidance—we are here to help you.

Sincerely,
Dr. Euisuk Sung, Chair
