Application For Admission
- AAS Program for Spring 2026: July 1, 2025 - October 1, 2025
- AAS Program for Fall 2026: January 1, 2026 - March 1, 2026
Applying to the CityTech Clinical Nursing program:
- Use your CityTech email only
- Complete the online application form
- Submit ALL documentation required:
- CityTech unofficial transcript and other college transcripts if applicable
- For high school AP credit, include high school transcripts
- TEAS exam results
- After your account is created, you must then complete the online admission
application for nursing. You will be able to manage your application form
using three features: View, Edit, and Delete until the deadline.
After the deadline, you will no longer be able to make any changes to the application.
Incomplete applications or applications with errors will be DENIED for admission.

TEAS Exam at ATI
Here are the key details regarding the TEAS at ATI option:

Please note two key dates listed below:
- Deadline to TAKE — Sunday, February 15, 2026
- Deadline to SUBMIT — Sunday, March 1, 2026
- Cost: $120, includes one transcript sent to the chosen school
- Transcript Sending: Following the test, students will have a 'credit' in their account to send their transcripts via ATI to City Tech. Transcripts are typically sent within 3 business days.
It is crucial for students to send their official TEAS transcript via ATI to City Tech. Failure to do so will result in the denial of your application to the Nursing program.

Admissions Criteria for Introductory Nursing Courses
General Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prerequisites for BIO 2311 (Anatomy & Physiology I):
- BIO 1101 and BIO 1101L with a minimum grade of C, or
- A college-level General Biology with Lab, or
- 85+ on the Biology Regents Exam (with Lab)
Introductory Sequence Requirements (13—14 credits)
Students must complete the following courses before clinical nursing coursework with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5:
- BIO 2311 — Anatomy & Physiology I (4 credits)
- Must be completed within the last 5 years
- PSY 1101 — Introduction to Psychology (3 credits)
- ENG 1101 — English Composition I (3 credits)
- Math requirement:
- MAT 1190 Quantitative Reasoning (3 credits), or
- MAT 1275 Introduction to Mathematical Analysis (4 credits), or
- A higher-level math (MAT 1375 or above)
- Higher-level math grades are weighted
Course Repetition Rules
- Students may repeat only one introductory course to meet the GPA requirement.
- Any D or F in an introductory course must be repeated; the second attempt grade counts.
- Courses with a grade of C or better cannot be repeated.
- If all introductory courses have grades of C or better but GPA is below 2.5:
- One course may be replaced with a - equivalent to raise GPA
(e.g., ENG 1121 for ENG 1101; BIO 2312 for BIO 2311; PSY 2301 for PSY 1101; MAT 1375+ or MAT 1272 for MAT 1275)
GPA Requirements for Admission to First-Semester Nursing Courses
- Minimum overall GPA: 2.5
- Minimum grade of C in all introductory courses
- Minimum 2.5 GPA specifically in the 13—14 credit introductory sequence
- Meeting minimum standards does not guarantee progression due to limited seats
- Students are ranked by highest introductory-sequence GPA
- Recent admission cycles: average accepted GPA ≈ 3.0 or higher
TEAS Exam Requirements
- All introductory students must take the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) during the introductory semester.
- Must achieve minimum scores set by the Nursing Department.
- TEAS exam must be taken within 1 year of application to the clinical phase.
- TEAS may be repeated once.
AAS Program Admission Criteria
- high school diploma or its equivalent (GED);
- CUNY proficiency in mathematics, writing and reading;
- Prerequisites for BIO 2311: BIO 1101 and BIO 1101L with a minimum grade of C, a college-level general biology course with lab, or a score of 85 or above on the biology Regents exam (with lab).
- Cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 2.5.
Nursing Entrance Exam
The NYCCT AAS Nursing Program currently utilizes the ATI- TEAS Exam (or its equivalent) during the introductory semester.
- The minimum score(s) as determined by the nursing department will be required for admission.
- Students must complete the TEAS exam within (1) one year of their application to the clinical phase of the nursing program.
- Students can repeat the TEAS exam (1) one time
- You must complete the ATI TEAS exam 2 weeks prior to the application deadline.

- Students applying to the nursing program must upload their TEAS results at the time of application.
NOTE: As of Fall 2010, students seeking a nursing degree at City Tech will be admitted into the College as an Undeclared Health major (UDH). After completing the prerequisite courses for nursing admission Undeclared Health (UDH) students can apply for the Nursing Program.
Undeclared Health (UDH) students who have not been admitted into the nursing program by the completion of the 30th credit will be required to select another major. If you receive financial aid and do not change your major by the 30th credit, there may be a disruption in your financial aid award . For more detailed information regarding eligibility for state aid please refer to the Financial Aid section under New York State Financial Aid programs.
RN-BS Program
To qualify for RN-BS admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Associate degree in nursing from the City University of New York or from a non-CUNY regional or nationally accredited credit-granting institution with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Current licensure in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse or eligibility to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) in New York State. Students who do not currently hold an RN license may apply to the program in anticipation of licensure.
- Unlicensed students who meet the eligibility criteria will be admitted on a case by case basis and will be required to obtain their RN license prior to registration in a nursing course with a clinical component.
- Nurses who hold a nursing diploma from a non-credit granting institution may also apply. Diploma applicants are required to pass the National League for Nursing's Acceleration Challenge Exams (NLN NACE I and II RN to BSN) for acceptance of previous nursing credits. Student scores on this exam are equated to the required 2.5 GPA from students entering with an associate degree in nursing.
- Successful completion of all pre-major requirements in the nursing program, either by examination or by completion of the appropriate courses.
- All University policies regarding skills and proficiency testing, grading, transfer credit, and degree completion will apply.
