Welcome to the Department of Law and Paralegal Studies

Our programs in Paralegal Studies provide you with both an understanding of law and the practical skills and technical proficiency needed to competently function in today's complex legal environment. The program offers two degree options – both approved by the American Bar Association – the Bachelor of Science and an Associate in Applied Science.

Our programs prepare students for a rewarding career as a paralegal, people who are specially trained to assist attorneys with all forms of substantive legal work. Both degree programs combine a solid background in liberal arts with a full range of specialty courses. Graduates of our programs are employed in private law firms of various sizes, in corporate law departments, federal, state and local government agencies and the courts and in agencies providing legal services for the poor. Many graduates of the baccalaureate program have chosen to attend law school.

All full-time faculty in the Law & Paralegal Studies Department serve as academic advisors to our students. You can find your advisor's name in Navigate (log in with your CUNYfirst information and look at your Success Team) or in CUNYfirst — in your student center, it is viewable in the Academic Records section under “Advisor.” You can also reach us by email at LAWadvisement@citytech.cuny.edu.

To request a Zoom meeting appointment, please contact Professor Coughlin, kcoughlin@citytech.cuny.edu.
