Human Services Department Fall 2025 Advisement Information

Advisors can answer/assist in all department/course policies, such as:

• TAP flags;
• Proof of credits;
• Career/graduate school consultation;
• Review your Advisement Guide;
• Report to Register any changes needed;
• Answers general questions; and Referral to other depts.

Change of Curriculum:  If you need to change your curriculum, fill out a change of curriculum form and submit the form on Registrar Student Submission Link. Do not send your form to the HUS faculty or the chairperson.
Before Joining Advisement Sessions: Students should complete the Advisement Guide using their CUNYfirst Student Summary, Transcript, and Degree Works. For further details, refer to the Sample Advisement Guide .

Zoom Advisement (No appointment necessary - stay in Waiting Room)

Students must email the following three documents to a faculty advisor just before their Zoom advisement session:

• A completed Advisement Guide
• Student Degree Works Audit (in pdf format, NOT a screenshot)
• CityTech Transcript (in pdf format, NOT a screenshot)

In-Person Advisement

Students must bring the three documents to the in-person session: 

• A completed Advisement Guide
• Student Degree Works Audit (in pdf format, NOT a screenshot) 
• CityTech Transcript (in pdf format, NOT a screenshot) 

Overrides: Overrides are ONLY helpful for students with all the prerequisites, but the system will not allow registration. Important Guidelines to Follow

• Complete Your Advisement Guide: If you send a blank Advisement Guide to a faculty advisor, you will be asked to complete it and re-join the session. Advisors will not fill out the guide for you.
• Direct Your Inquiries Appropriately: Do not send the same inquiries to all advisors. Choose your preferred advisement time and send your information/questions to the advisor assigned to that session.
• Advisement Hours: Faculty advisors will only respond during their designated advisement hours.
• Zoom Advisement: Be prepared to wait in the Zoom waiting room for a reasonable amount of time, as advisement is conducted individually on a first-come, first-serve basis.
