How It Works - Program Structure

Visit Guides

CUNY hires and trains college students as Visit Guides to deliver interactive and meaningful campus experiences for the visiting middle and high school students, or Explorers. City Tech awards college students with a participation award to facilitate Explorer in-person and remote visits and workshops. Federal Work Study Students provide additional program support and assist with administrative work.

College Experience

Students explore the campus through a guided tour—meeting college students, faculty and campus staff, and participating in a hands-on activity that promotes college readiness and introduces them to an academic area of study. Students learn about a variety of careers and begin laying the foundation for a college and career mindset.

Personal Stories

College Students share personal college stories, why they selected City Tech, how they chose their major, career plans and much more.

School and Classroom Visits

Explorers hosts virtual visits for schools that cannot attend an in-person visit. To supplement the campus visit and to deepen the program's impact, Visit Guides travel to middle school classrooms to facilitate activities and discussions about college, as a special request for college awareness events or college fairs.
