FAQs
Who can participate in CUNY Explorers?NYCPS with 6th-8th grade students are eligible, including District 75 and District 79. D75 and D79 schools may bring additional grades. Community-based organizations that serve DOE public school students are also eligible. NYCPS high schools can participate in our High School Workshops for their 9th and 10th graders. Unfortunately, independent, and private schools are ineligible. |
How long is each visit?Remote sessions are 45 to 60 minutes long. In person campus sessions are 60-90 minutes long. However, all sessions can be adjusted for time when communicating with the Campus Coordinator. Sessions are led by trained CUNY college students. |
How many students can participate in a campus visit? It depends on the campus and the day you plan your session. Please see the campus' registration page for more information on campus limits. The student limit also depends on whether the session is in-person or remote. D75 and D79 schools do not have a required minimum number of students. |
A campus I want to visit has no available visit dates. What are my next steps? Please contact the Campus Coordinator/Director and ask about being placed on a waitlist. You can also check to see if other campuses have available dates. |
What technology is used for remote sessions?Sessions are offered through Zoom. We will aim to accommodate other platforms if needed. |
How far in advance do I need to book an in person or remote session? All remote sessions must be reserved at least one week in advance. |
