City Tech Professor of Mathematics, Sandie Han, has been selected for CUNY’s prestigious and highly competitive 2022-2023 Office of Undergraduate Studies, Academic Programs and Policy (OUSAP) Leadership Development Fellowship, serving in the role of Assistant University Dean for Academic Technology and Pedagogy.
Prof. Han was selected from a group of exceptionally qualified candidates throughout the university. As the OUSAP Leadership Fellow, she will work with the OUSAP team and other members of the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) to oversee and manage a number of university-wide pedagogy and academic technology efforts.
OUSAP initiated this program to increase CUNY’s pipeline of faculty who are well prepared to thrive and serve in an academic executive leadership role at CUNY. The program is designed to provide faculty with an interest in pursuing a career in academic administration theopportunity to explore this path and develop their administrative skill set. The fellowship will provide a platform for fellows to broaden their experience in the daily demands, expectations, and responsibilities of executive leadership positions in the CUNY system.
Dr. Han received her Bachelor's degree from Bryn Mawr College, Master's degree from Queens College and PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center. She was chair of the College’s Department of Mathematics from 2015 to 2021. Her research focuses on number theory and mathematics education. Her work on self-regulated learning and self-efficacy won the 2013 CUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mathematics Instructions. In 2018, she was selected as one of eight participants in the CUNY-Harvard Consortium Leadership program. She is also the founder of the CUNY Celebrates Women in Computing conference.
