City Tech is excited to announce its new Bachelor of Science (BS) in Cybersecurity degree program in the Department of Computer Systems Technology.  

The BS in Cybersecurity, launching in Fall 2025, will prepare graduates for the ever-growing demand for qualified specialists needed to safeguard computer systems, networks, cloud infrastructure, programs, and sensitive data from digital attacks. City Tech’s program provides a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, along with hands-on experience using industry-standard tools and techniques. Through practical projects, students will build a strong foundation in cybersecurity theory while developing problem-solving skills. The program also includes a balance of technical and liberal arts courses, assuring the well-rounded education essential for success in today’s competitive job market.  

“Our BS in Cybersecurity will be the first of its kind in the CUNY system,” said City Tech Provost Pamela Brown. “Graduates of this program will be highly skilled to meet the demand for cybersecurity-related careers in both the public and private sectors, prepared to enter the job market or continue their graduate studies.”  

“The program is designed to prepare graduates for success in the rapidly growing and ever-evolving cybersecurity industry,” said Janusz Kusyk, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Systems Technology, who was on the team that planned the curriculum for the new degree. “Students have the opportunity to explore various computer technology fields before committing to the cybersecurity degree, gaining a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, along with hands-on experience using industry-standard tools and techniques.”  

Students from other CUNY institutions and external colleges are eligible to transfer into this program. Upon graduation, students with the BS in Cybersecurity will be well-positioned to compete in the industry.
