The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) of CUNY is responsible for protection of the rights and welfare of all human participants in research projects conducted at CUNY, or research projects conducted by faculty, staff and students affiliated with CUNY. This program provides oversight, administrative support, and educational training to ensure that all research performed at CUNY comply with Federal and State regulations, University policy, and the highest ethical standards.
An Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a committee of scientists, nonscientists, and community members, all of whom review proposed research involving human participants to ensure that the proposed research protects all rights and welfare of the participants. The IRB of CUNY is a branch of HRPP that has the authority to review, approve, require modifications of, or disapprove, all research activities.
City Tech is dedicated to performing administrative functions that fulfill the mandate of CUNY’s IRB for human research protection.
