I would like to welcome you to the Department of Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering Technology (ETET). ETET was one of the first and is today one of the largest departments at New York City College of Technology (City Tech).

The mission of the Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering Technology department is to provide academic, technological, and cultural resources and experiences to the students of the programs we offer.

The high quality electrical engineering technology and telecommunications engineering technology programs are at the heart of the departmental mission.

The department is dedicated to successfully educating students of diverse backgrounds and cultures for entry into the electrical and telecommunications engineering technology industries.

Through excellence in teaching and innovative use of technology, the department is committed to supporting an open environment where learning, creativity, and personal growth can flourish, thus benefiting our students, our college, and our community.

The ETET department currently offers the following degree programs which are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET (www.abet.org):

AAS in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET)
AAS in Telecommunications Engineering Technology (TCET)
Bachelor of Technology in Telecommunications Engineering Technology (TCET) Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET)

The new Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) was launched in fall 2013. This unique program, the first of its kind in the CUNY system and one of the few in the Northeast, educates students for career opportunities in many related industries.

The ETET department is proud of having a number of globally renowned faculty members whose publications of books (translated into many languages) and journal papers are referenced by colleagues in the field worldwide. ETET faculties are involved in a wide variety of research activities such as Multimedia over IP (Internet Protocol), Optical Communication, Photosensitivity and Fiber Bragg Gratings, Nonlinear Optics, Optical and Microwave Remote Sensing, Computer Network and Security, Signal and Image Processing, and Biomedical Research, to name only a few. Interested students may find the research currently conducted by our faculty in the "faculty" subsection of this website.

The ETET department with the support of the administration has recently purchased and installed cutting edge equipment in various fields that places our laboratories among one of the most advanced laboratories in the field for undergraduate students.

Our department currently consists of over 40 faculty members, over 750 undergraduate students, and over 100 Verizon students. Our faculty, students and staff have been recognized with many significant awards that can be found on our website. The department has eight laboratories on three different floors, each allocated to a specific area in Electrical and Telecommunication fields. The department is also happy to have three full-time college laboratory technicians (CLT) each holds a master's degrees and over 30 years of combined work experience. They contribute to the department's laboratories in order to keep them in an excellent shape as well as providing support to faculties during the laboratory sessions. We also have over ten adjunct CLTs, who assist the faculty/students in the laboratories.

Once again I welcome you to the ETET department and will be glad to answer questions you may have regarding our departmental programs.
