The Adult Learning Center (ALC) is part of Adult Education Programs (AEP) of the Division of Continuing Education at CUNY — New York City College of Technology. Our students come from many countries but are united in their desire to succeed - to raise families, get better jobs, improve their skills, earn a high school equivalency diploma or go to college.

HSE — High School Equivalency (Also known as GED©) .In these classes, students who do not have a high school diploma prepare to take the GED exam and obtain a high school equivalency diploma. Medical Assistant Training for English Language LearnersMedical Assistant Training for English Language Learners is a free program that provides high intermediate to advanced English language learners with the knowledge, practical skills, certifications, and English language skills required to become Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMA). Students take classes in phlebotomy, EKG administration, medical terminology, and office productivity applications to name a few! This is a 10-month in-person training. High School Diploma, GED, HSE, or TASC required. We also accept foreign high school diplomas that are translated into English. Medical Billing & Coding Training for English Language LearnersMedical Billing & Coding Training for English Language Learners is a free program that prepares intermediate to advanced English language learners with the knowledge, skills, and certification needed to become Certified Billing and Coding Specialists. Students take classes in Medical Terminology, Electronic Health Records, Medical Billing & Coding, Health Insurance, and Computer Applications. This is a four-month training that is 100% in person. Classes meet Monday-Friday 9am-3pm. High School Diploma, GED, HSE, or TASC required. We also accept foreign high school diplomas translated into English. Direct Support Professional (DSP) Training for English Language LearnersDirect Support Professional (DSP) Training for English Language Learners is a free training program that prepares students to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.There is a high need for DSPs in New York City. All students who successfully complete the program receive support with job placement. Must be authorized to work in the US.
