Health care is one of the most rapidly expanding and dynamic industries in our nation and the nursing programs offered by the Nursing Department at New York City College of Technology, CUNY (City Tech) are two of the college's most competitive offerings that help meet this trend.
Thank you for your interest in our Nursing Degree Programs.
The New York City College of Technology, CUNY (City Tech) offers two nursing programs: the Associate in Applied Science Degree Program (AAS) and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program (BS) for Registered Nurses. Based on Watson's Theory of Caring, both programs emphasize the knowledge and skills required to be a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
The AAS degree is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and is approved by the New York State Education Department. On average, City Tech nursing graduates pass the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN) with higher mean scores than the combined average of all schools of nursing in New York State. In addition to nursing courses, the AAS program includes study in the biological sciences, psychology, and general education. You will practice nursing skills in both college laboratories and affiliated New York City hospital, community health agencies, and long-term care facilities.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program is for Registered Nurses who want to develop their critical thinking and research skills to become nurse leaders and managers. The RN-BS Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and is approved by the New York State Education Department.
For additional information about students and activities, see the department newsletter, Pulse.
