CUNY Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost Wendy Hensel meets with students

A Warm Welcome to City Tech: City University of New York Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost Wendy Hensel and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Effectiveness and Innovation Dr. Alicia M. Alvero, center, met with City Tech student leaders on February 16, part of a campus tour and series of listening sessions that included a Town Hall with the college community. Among those attending the student gathering were Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Marling Sone and students Jannett Akent, Alaijah Champagne-Ruiz, Qing (Charlotte) Chen, Alisha Corke, Daniella Cuttone, Salimatou Doumbouya, Yehya Elfgeeh, Mohammad Ishaq Masud, Somdat Kissoon, Sabil Manai, Marie Nelson, Kimberly Ramgopal, Salma Razak, Adrian Ville, and Tiya Williams.

"We spoke about conflict and legacies of apartheid," noted Prof. Shepard. "They showed me the statue of King George still on the campus, pictured here, graffitied with 'It must fall... Goodbye G!'"

City Tech's 42nd Annual Literary Arts Festival
The City Tech 2023 Literary Arts Festival is happening on Thursday, April 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Academic Complex Theater, 285 Jay Street.

This year's event features acclaimed multidisciplinary artist, writer, and a National Book Foundation "5 Under 35" honoree Akwaeke Emezi, author of Freshwater and the bestsellers You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty and The Death of Vivek Oji.

How can you get involved and see your work included in this year's festival?

City Tech students, we want to hear your voice, your story, your words! Please submit writing in any genre: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, speeches, journalism, multimodal work, photo essays, videos, animation, spoken-word performances, and more. All creative work is welcome! Submissions are due March 20, 2023.
