Campus Safety Guidelines

As City Tech returns to more in-person campus activity, we will work together to support the health and safety of our college community, and continue to follow CUNY guidance regarding precautions against COVID-19. The policies below pertain specifically to classroom health and safety protocols. Masks

• Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a face mask that fully covers your mouth and nose.
• The NYC Department of Health recommends that people wear snug-fitting masks with two or three layers of material to better prevent unfiltered air from passing through.
• Two masks, with a cloth face covering over a disposable one; or
• Higher-grade masks, like KN95s, for people at greater risk.

• The only time a mask may be removed is very briefly while eating or drinking, and only if physical distancing can be maintained.
• Campuses may require a higher degree of personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on the nature of activity. For those activities, N95 respirators or other PPE used under existing industry standards must continue to be used, in accordance with OSHA guidelines.

Physical Distancing

• Because students and faculty (except for those granted medical exemption or religious exception) are expected to be vaccinated in the Spring 2022 semester, physical distancing (space of at least 6 feet) between people is not a required classroom safety measure.
• People who are not fully vaccinated should continue to practice physical distancing.

COVID-19 Reporting

• If you have tested positive for COVID-19 or had close contact with a person with COVID-19 (within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes over a 24-hour period), you must report this to the college. Note: If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should test and isolate at home while waiting for your results.

• To report a COVID-19 positive test or close contact, follow these steps:
• Complete the COVID-19 Reporting Form on the college website.
• This online form is secure, and all information will be kept confidential.
• A member of the College’s Contact Tracing Team will follow up with you upon receipt of the form.
• Students must immediately inform their professor(s). Faculty and CLTs must immediately inform their department chairperson.

• Wear a face mask inside all shared campus spaces, at all times.
• Wear a mask outdoors on campus when unable to maintain physical distance from others (for example, while standing on line at the City Tech testing center).
• The only exceptions to wearing a mask inside are:
• If a fully vaccinated person is alone in an enclosed space such as an office or conference room.
• Briefly while eating or drinking, provided social distancing is maintained.

Because students and faculty are expected to be vaccinated in the Spring 2022 semester (except for those granted medical or religious exemptions), physical distancing (keeping space of at least 6 feet between people) will not be a required safety measure for classroom and educational settings. People who are not fully vaccinated should continue to practice physical distancing.
