Campus Facilities Safety Measures

The Buildings and Grounds Department has been investing funds and hundreds of man hours to repair and maintain the facility in order to ensure that students, faculty and staff return to a safe, clean and comfortable environment. In order to maintain safety standards and comply with all COVID mandates, the following measures have been implemented:

  • City Tech engineering team monitors the HVAC systems using a state-of-the-art building management system (BMS), for proper operation and to maintain safe temperatures while also
  • ensuring fresh air circulation in all campus buildings. This includes fresh air for bathrooms as well as the elevators.
  • All air conditioning coils, heating coils, and outside dampers have been power washed.
  • All air handlers have been tested to make sure they open to 100% outside fresh air when they are turned on.
  • Four of the air handlers underwent major repairs.
  • On May 26, 2021, Ramboll, a consultant hired by CUNY, performed air quality tests for all campus buildings. All of the buildings passed the air quality tests.
  • Ultraviolet Disinfection Towers will be used to disinfect and sanitize spaces where positive cases have been reported.
  • Plexiglass was installed in the common areas for the safety of all building occupants.
  • Hand sanitizers have been installed throughout the buildings.
