New Student Center
After testing, but before you register for courses, you will be assigned a time to meet with an academic adviser to plan your course of study and choose courses for the next semester. New students are advised in the academic advisement center, continuing students in their academic departments. Together, the adviser and you will choose courses that meet the requirements of your major program and that you are qualified to take. Your adviser will provide you with a signed copy of your registration form listing the courses you will take.
In general, your academic adviser should be consulted whenever you have questions about or are experiencing difficulties with your academic program. Any changes in the courses you select in consultation with your adviser must also be approved by the academic adviser, including courses you wish to drop or add during the term. Meetings with a departmental adviser can be scheduled through your major department office. Department locations and telephone numbers are listed in the catalog, and in the college directory, the student handbook and the college registration bulletin.
The Advisement Center is located in room N 104 and can be reached at 718.260.5013
