Faces Of City Tech, The Portrait Project, started when Professor Barbara Confino decided to send roving photographers around City Tech to make portraits of the college community. Enthused about the idea, she soon approached the Brooklyn Borough President’s Gallery Director, Carolyn Greer, about a show. With colleague, Professor Robin Michals, now on board as co-curator, the Portrait Project was underway. Scheduled to go up in early June 2005, the exhibition has expanded to include work from both mobile and studio photography units. All photographs were taken by students from the Department of Art and Advertising Design’s AD230 Digital Photography and Design II classes during the FALL 04 semester. In 2003 and 2004, City Tech was cited by US News & World Report as the most diverse college of its type in the Northeast. The wonderful diversity in this collection of photos shows why.
