Faculty and Staff Service Center

New York City College of Technology has established the Faculty and Staff Service Center in order to enhance the quality of life of its employees. This in-house comprehensive program is being developed to promote the wellness of all employees, help employees cope with common problems of living and provide opportunity for personal enrichment.

In addition to the program's commitment to promoting the wellness of all employees, the college recognizes that the quality of life of an employee can be affected by any of the wide range of human problems. This may interfere with one's ability to function on the job and in one's person life. Such problems could include areas on physical and mental health, family relationships, financial and legal matters, alcohol and substance abuse, stress, etc. The decision to use the counseling program's services will be voluntary on the part of the employee or family members.

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of the program and it is guaranteed to all.

The Faculty and Staff Service Center guarantees the confidentiality
of information obtained from all persons who participate in the Center.
No information will be released without written consent from individual or
his/her legal representatives. The only exceptions to this commitment
are those provided by law. The Faculty and Staff Service Center will
inform the participants of legal limits of confidentiality at the outset of
of the initial consultation.

The Faculty and Staff Service Center will maintain collaborative relationships with union employee service programs, as well as outside community service agencies.

This program will not replace the normal processes and functions of the Personnel Office. It is guaranteed that an employee's job security and promotional opportunities will, in no way, be affected by his or her participation in this program. Implementation of this policy will not result in any conflicts with existing administrative procedures or contractual agreements.

The Faculty and Staff Service Center is intended to meet the needs and interests of all employees (Civil Service, Instructional Staff and Administrators) of New York City College of Technology and family members, regardless of race, sex, creed, color, occupation, profession, physical, religion or sexual preference.

An advisory board will serve on an ongoing basis to recommend policies and help define the program's orientation, facilitate effective community linkages and resources, and create a responsive workplace environment.

The Program reports to Michelle Harris, Executive Director, Human Resources & Labor Relations.
