Being Safe while Working Remotely

Information security awareness becomes paramount when working remotely. It's vital that sensitive information be protected from threats both internal and external.

Avoid public Wi-Fi; if necessary, use personal hotspots or some way to encrypt your web connection.

If you are using a personal computer or laptop, ensure that you have anti-virus and all necessary updates before connecting.

Don't stay logged onto VPN or any of your cloud tools. Remember that having VPN access means that you are directly connecting to the College network. Be mindful in ensuring you have logged out.

If you were given access to your H:\drive from home, remember that the connection remains on your local computer thus leaving your files vulnerable if someone else goes onto your device.

Take extra caution in who you are providing access to in cloud collaboration tools.

Think before you click.
