City Tech Communication Design Students win Health of Advertising Brand Challenge

City Tech Communication Design Students Win National Advertising Competition

Communication Design students Xueying Liu, Cassidy Crespo, Adrika Hoque, Angy Vasquez, Agustin Melo Galvez, Rebecca Armand, and Yunique Griffith were awarded 1st place in the Health of Advertising Brand Challenge, a 4-week national advertising competition sponsored by Omnicom Health Group. Professor Josh Kapusinski sponsored the students' work, with the contributions of Professors Douglas Davis and Adjunct Instructor Richard Pels. 

Students created an entire campaign concept including a commercial, digital and display ads as well as an AI-powered mobile app. The work culminated in a final online presentation shared with dozens of industry professionals. ​

 
CUNY Around the World: A Cultural Showcase

CUNY Around the World

The Department of Entertainment Technology’s Stage Craft Club presented CUNY Around the World earlier this month. Students from City Tech and other CUNY schools showcased their culture through the arts at the Voorhees Theater at City Tech.

English Professor Writes Acclaimed Biography of Former Congressman George Santos 

City Tech Adjunct Lecturer of English Mark Chiusano has published The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos. The new book was immediately well-reviewed and sold to HBO Films. 

 

Physics Professor Viviana Acquaviva Authors New Book, Machine Learning for Physics and Astronomy 

Astrophysicist and City Tech Professor of Physics Viviana Acquaviva has released a new book, Machine Learning for Physics and Astronomy, published by Princeton University Press. The monograph provides a hands-on introduction to machine learning and its applications to the physical sciences. 

 

Architectural Technology Professor Promoted to Executive Director of Engineering at the New York City Department of Design and Construction

City Tech Adjunct Professor of Architectural Technology Ashwani Bedi has been promoted to the position of Executive Director of Engineering at the New York City Department of Design and Construction. He brings close to 40 years of experience working with various national and international consulting firms, and has been with the DDC for over 18 years.

 

Americans and the Holocaust Exhibition Opens at City Tech with Remarks from CUNY Chancellor and Keynote Exploring WWII Media 

The City Tech community and guests observed the opening of Americans and the Holocaust, a traveling exhibition from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, with a reception November 28 in the Academic Complex.
