Dear Students,

Welcome to City Tech! The Office of Scholarships & Residency Services has created this web page to help guide you through the process of applying for scholarships and grants. We administer many scholarship awards. Each semester, eligible students are selected through our database and invited to apply for the awards for which they are eligible. Eligibility for a scholarship, whether merit-based or need-based, is determined upon entrance into the college, based on academic strengths and--if you apply for financial aid--your financial need. We continue to monitor eligibility throughout each student’s career at the college.

We are pleased to provide this information as a reference guide/tool for your use.If you have questions or need clarification, please contact us

Tips from the director:

When you are searching and applying for scholarships and grants, please keep the following in mind:

  • read and follow all directions;
  • initially prepare your essay in outline format;
  • supply concrete examples in your essay where appropriate,
    and do not exaggerate
  • proofread your application
  • type your application
  • never skip questions

If the guidelines that appear immediately above are followed, your essay is likely to strengthen your application for aid.

In addition, the best way to search for scholarships and grants is to use a personalized search engine that takes specific elements of your background—personal, academic, etc.—and matches those elements to available scholarships and grants for which you may be qualified. Only those awards that fit your profile are identified as successful matches.

Finally, you should create a new e-mail address to be used solely for the purpose of communicating with the institutions and organizations that manage the scholarships and grants funds.
