Vision Care Technology
Thomas A. Woods is a tenured ophthalmic dispensing faculty member, currently holding the title of Lecturer. He is the ophthalmic materials and optics coordinator. He has been an ophthalmic educator since 1983, teaching courses in ophthalmic shop theory and practices, dispensing theory and practices and contact lenses practice. In addition, he is a recognized expert in safety and sports vision.
Mr. Woods is a licensed Ophthalmic Dispenser in New York and New Jersey and is a certified optician by the American Board of Opticianry. In addition, he is certified by The National Contact Lens Examiners and is a certified contact lens technician. He has Associate Degrees in Mechanical Technology and Ophthalmic Dispensing and a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the City University of New York.
Mr. Woods is a active member of the eye care profession and holds offices in various professional organizations:

Mr. Woods has written and published papers and articles on opticianry with a focus on eye safety in sports. He has lectured extensively in the United States at international, national, regional, and state conferences.
