Vision Care Technology
Thomas A. Woods is a tenured ophthalmic dispensing faculty member, currently holding the title of Instructor. He is the ophthalmic materials and optics coordinator. He has been an ophthalmic educator since 1983, teaching courses in ophthalmic shop theory and practices, dispensing theory and practices and contact lenses practice. In addition, he is a recognized expert in safety and sports vision.
Professor Woods is a licensed Ophthalmic Dispenser in New York and New Jersey and is a certified Optician by the American Board of Opticianry and The National Contact Lens Examiners and is a certified contact lens technician NCLE. He has Associate Degrees in Mechanical Technology and Ophthalmic Dispensing and a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the City University of New York.

Professor Woods has written and published papers and articles on opticianry with a focus on eye safety in sports. He has lectured extensively in the United States at international, national, regional, and state conferences.
