Dr. Kara Pasner is the refraction coordinator and clinical optometrist in the vision care technology clinic. She is a licensed optometrist in the states of New York and New Jersey. She is also certified in therapeutic pharmaceutical agent use in the states of New York and New Jersey. Dr. Pasner has been a member in the American Optometric Academy and the Monmouth-Ocean Counties branch of the New Jersey Society or Optometric Physicians.
Dr. Pasner received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Science Journalism from New York University, a Masters of Science in Vision Science from the State University of New York College of Optometry and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry. She was the recipient of a research training grant from the National Eye Institute and the Founders Day Award for outstanding scholarship from New York University.
Dr. Pasner has extensive experience working in the fields of contact lens fitting and primary eye care. She was also a cofounder of a laser vision correction center. Dr. Pasner specializes in low vision care for the partially sighted. Dr. Pasner also writes for industry publications and is the low vision optometrist on the New York team of the first US Food and Drug Administration approved Implantable Miniature Telescope from Centrasight, Inc.
Dr. Pasner was one of eleven women from around the country honored in the Mentor Category by Vision Monday, the optical industry’s leading news magazine, in 2012. She was listed as one of the “One Hundred Most Influential Women in the Optical Industry.” Dr. Pasner also received the honor of being named a “Brooklyn Woman of Distinction” by Courier Life Publications in 2012.
