Vision Care Technology
Professor August is the Ophthalmic Clinic Coordinator. He is a 20-year past Chairperson of the Department of Vision Care Technology, New York City College of Technology. He is certified by the American Board of Opticianry, the National Contact Lens Examiners, the Opticians Association of America in Refractometry and is licensed in the states of New York and New Jersey. He is a past President of the National Federation of Optical Schools, a past Commissioner and Chairperson for the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation, a past Chairman of International Vision Expo and their Opticianry Advisory Board, a past member of the board of directors of the Opticians Association of America, the American Board of Opticianry, the National Contact Lens Examiners Board, the National Academy of Sports Vision as well as past director of the Educational Foundation of Ophthalmic Optics.
In addition, Professor August is an international speaker and consultant on ophthalmic topics as well as an advisor to the New York City Department of Education on their Vision Technology High School Programs and an advisor to Remote Area Medical. He is a past chairperson of the Advisory Board of Cranford High School as well as current chairperson of the Ophthalmic Dispensing Advisory Board of Essex Community College.
Professor August has written numerous papers and articles and has been published in many industry magazines and journals.

Professor August received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the City University of New York, a Masters of Business Administration from St. Johns University as well as a Doctoral Equivalency from the City University of New York
