Robin Bargar

Dean of The School of Technology and Design



With a background in music composition, computer music and digital media, Robin Bargar conducted research and developed applications of computational systems and technology integration for information display and human-computer interaction, including performance systems involving virtual reality.

From 1991-2000 he was a research programmer and research scientist at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He directed software development for the CAVE virtual environment and served as Director of the Integrated Systems Laboratory, an interdisciplinary simulation and prototyping studio. Before coming to CUNY he initiated an integrated technology program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and served as Director of Hexagram, the Institute for Media Arts and Technologies in Montréal, Canada.
