The Physics Department offers courses in physics and physical science. These courses offer students the opportunity to develop an appreciation and understanding of the physical world. The coursework develops a comprehension of basic physical principles, competence in using logical procedures in problem solving and an awareness of the historical advances and future potentials in the field of physical science.
The Department has an active presence outside of the classroom. Periodically we have joint Physics and Mathematics colloquia and invite speakers from various institutions.
The Department also has a very accomplished faculty. The physics professors have done research in theoretical nuclear physics, solid state physics, material science, photonics, astrophysics, space travel and physics education. The results have been published in various scientific journals and presented at conferences all over the world. They have been awarded numerous grants from various institutions to pursue their research in physics and physics education.
