The Humanities Department at City Tech is a vibrant learning community that includes a diverse set of disciplines: Art History, Foreign Language, Music, and Theatre. The department’s goal is to provide students with the communication and language skills necessary for academic, career, and personal advancement, and with coursework in creative, historical, and theoretical approaches to the performing and visual arts. The accomplished faculty researchers and practitioners of the Humanities Department teach a diverse array of subjects, including historical musical styles and musicianship; history of Asian art and the Italian Renaissance; Spanish and Latin American literature; Arabic and Chinese language; theatre history and drama workshops; and intercultural communication and public speaking, among many others. Most courses offered in the Humanities Department are part of degree-granting programs and fulfill general education requirements.
