Earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiological Science

The BSRS degree requires completion of 55 credits, including:

  • 21 credits in the major courses
  • 34 credits of Arts & Sciences courses (including 12 free electives)

The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in Radiological Science is designated as a 2+2 model (AAS or equivalent+BS) to provide an avenue for professional and personal advancement for credentialed x-ray technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, sonographers, and radiation therapists. Qualified applicants include graduates of an associate degree or certificate (hospital-based) program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and who are registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.

This BS degree program is unique within The City University of New York (CUNY), the only one of its kind offering further education in medical imaging. The program was designed to meet the needs of a variety of individuals in the medical imaging and radiation therapy workforce, including entry-level personnel and experienced professionals who are looking for professional advancement.

The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that will enhance the student's preparation through advanced clinical practice, research and leadership training, leading to success in the constantly advancing and developing field of medical imaging. Upon completion, students will have attained knowledge based on radiologic principles, combined with a rich core arts and science education that will expand their critical thinking and ethical reasoning skills, a key to lifelong learning.

This BS degree will serve as a foundation for graduate education in master's and doctoral-level programs.

Admission

Admission to the BSRS program requires students to be graduates of an associate degree program or certificate level program accredited by the JRCERT, and registered by the ARRT or equivalent.

Graduates of a JRCERT accredited AAS program may be awarded up to 65 credits. Certificate level graduates may transfer up to 41 credits.
