Professor Richardson, who chairs the nursing department, has taught a variety of courses in the nursing curriculum, including Medical Surgical Nursing, Maternal Child Nursing and Medical Dosage Calculations.

Professor Richardson has done research on standardized nursing languages (Nursing Diagnosis, Nursing Interventions Classification and Nursing Outcomes Classification) and school nursing. Three articles related to this research have been published in the Journal of School Nursing and the research has been presented locally and nationally. Professor Richardson has received awards from The City University of New York, the American Red Cross, the Staten Island Nursing Diagnosis Association and the New York Counties Registered Nurses Association. She serves on the board of directors of the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Red Cross of Greater New York and is a member of the executive committees of two nursing organizations.

She serves on the College Council, the College Personnel and Budget Committee and the Council of Academic Affairs. She chairs the University Faculty Senate Research Committee and is a member of the CUNY Nursing Discipline Council.

Professor Richardson holds a BS in Nursing from Hunter College and an MS in Nursing from Wagner College with a major in Medical/Surgical Nursing and Nursing Education.
