Dr. Elaine Leinung, RN, DNP, FNP-C, CNE, is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner currently practicing in college health. She received her DNP in Educational Leadership from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, in 2008.
Dr. Leinung an active advocate of the profession of Nurse Practitioner. She served as President of the Brooklyn/Queens Chapter of the New York State Nurse Practitioners Association for six years, and is currently the New York City Area Regional Director for that organization.
Dr. Leinung initiated and was Executive Producer of four, 30-minute TV shows: “Ask Your Nurse Practitioner,” produced at Queens Public Television. One of the shows was an award-winner at the Alliance for Community Media’s Northeast Region Video Festival. All four shows play on New York cable channels and help educate the public about the role of Nurse Practitioners’, as well as personal health issues. Grants from QPTV to the New York NPA funded the shows. The shows have done an excellent job of promoting Nurse Practitioners, and NP students have enjoyed viewing them and getting ideas for their futures as well.
Dr. Leinung is also a Certified Nurse Educator who aspires to excellence in teaching. She is a published author on the subject of college health issues. Dr. Leinung and Dr. Aida Egues also have manuscripts in press on their research interest: horizontal violence (bullying) in nursing.
Dr. Leinung has presented locally, regionally, nationally and internationally on the topics “Nurse Practitioners and Health Disparities” and “Horizontal Violence; a Conundrum for Nursing.”
