Theresa Keane, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the department of nursing. She is a licensed registered nurse and a licensed psychologist in the state of New York. Dr.Keane received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hunter College, CUNY and her Doctor of Philosophy in clinical psychology at Long Island University. In July, 2008 she completed a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization of psychiatric nurse practitioner at Stony Brook University. Dr. Keane has served as project director on a number of federally funded intiatives aimed at improving the mental health functioning of people who live with HIV/AIDS and their families.
Most recently, she is the project director of a community-based program funded by SAMHSA that is examining evidence-based treatment strategies for people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Her private practice, based in Brooklyn New York, focuses on substance use disorders and HIV/AIDS mental health. Currently, Dr. Keane is teaching Nursing research in the Baccalaureate program.
