Professor Egues is a 2008 RN Excellence NY/NJ Regional Award Finalist, Nursing Spectrum, in the Mentoring Category. For her extensive role in mentoring students, she has also received the National Student Nurses’ Association, Inc. Silver Award, School Community Health Project, 2008 Community Health Projects Program for the Peer-to-Peer Mentoring for Professional Advancement Project, and Health Fair and Nursing Professional Recruitment Projects she pioneered. Professor Egues is also the recipient of an award by the City University of New York the Recognition for Leadership and Mentoring Roles with Students for her dedication to student club involvement and outstanding community outcomes.

In addition, she has a book contract with Jones Bartlett Publishers for Mentoring in Nursing: Commitment with Positive Results, with an anticipated release of 2010. A Doctoral Scholarship Award recipient from Case Western Reserve University, her work is entitled The Relationship Between the Quality of Mentoring Experienced by Hispanic RN’s and Their Level of Nursing Practice. To further expand that work, she has submitted a PSC-CUNY grant to investigate the narratives of Hispanic Registered Nurses to discover their personal and professional barriers to advancement and growth, and contributed to a HRSA Grant. Professor Egues is a Certified Nurse Educator with National League for Nursing Academic Nurse Educator Certification. In addition, she is a Public Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, Board Certified and credentialed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. As a Registered Professional Nurse in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, Professor Egues has presented and written on tuberculosis, programmatic evaluation, curricula integration of community health services, and women’s international health issues. She is also a multiple grant recipient and presenter in the area of technology, specifically the use and integration of personal digital assistants (PDAs) in both the didactic and clinical nursing settings. Her philosophy of supporting the use of technology in the curriculum has also made her seek out and apply for a City University, Making Connections: An ePortfolio Mini-Grant & Seminar Program. She is also an active member in the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, where she is on the Advisory Board of the Student Nurses Affiliation.
