Patricia A. Cholewka

Dr. Patricia A. Cholewka, Associate Professor, NYCCT Department of Nursing, has extensive clinical experience in hospital medical-surgical nursing, managed care, healthcare quality improvement, and as a hospital informatics consultant. She has developed and taught a variety of courses in nursing and healthcare management curricula, including the NYCCT BS program course, Leadership in the Management of Client Care and an elective BS program course, Nursing Informatics. She is also a member of a team developing use of patient simulators in a dedicated Clinical Simulation Laboratory so that nursing students can universally be exposed to programmed scenarios that correlate directly with their classroom theory lectures.

Dr. Cholewka has lectured and taught internationally in Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, and Ukraine. She received many honors as well as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar Lecture-Research Award to Vilnius University, Lithuania. She has authored articles for nursing, healthcare quality improvement, and international economic journals, reviewed healthcare management manuals, and co-authored a book on health capital and sustainable socioeconomic development.

Professor Cholewka holds an EdD in International Education Development from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research focus is on the performance improvement of healthcare systems in post-Soviet transitional economies. She also holds an MPA in Management of Public and Nonprofit Organizations from the New York University Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, an MA in Nursing Informatics from New York University College of Nursing, and a BS in Nursing from Castleton State College.
