Welcome to the New York City College of Technology, CUNY (City Tech) nursing web site. Our department offers two nursing programs: the Associate Degree in Nursing Program (AAS) and the RN to BSN Program (BSN). The AAS Program is a pre-licensure program and the RN to BS Program is for Registered Nurses obtaining a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN). Both programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and approved by the New York State Education Department.
The American Nurses Association (ANA) believes that the public has a right to expect registered nurses to demonstrate professional competence throughout their careers and that the registered nurse is individually responsible and accountable for maintaining professional competence. The ANA further believes that it is the nursing profession's responsibility to shape and guide any process for assuring nurse competence (ANA Position Statement - Approved 2008).
The faculty at the City Tech Nursing Department, having just celebrated 50+ years of providing nursing education, support these statements and are committed to providing you with a comprehensive nursing education – with the focus on a caring, human component. You are about to begin an important step in your professional journey. This exciting and challenging phase of your education will provide you with additional knowledge, skills and experiences to guide you on your path of lifelong learning. You will grow professionally and personally through interactions with faculty, fellow students, nursing staff and patients in clinical agencies. Along with many other college and university network resources, we have a state-of-the-art simulation lab that will help produce technically knowledgeable nurse researchers, leaders, and educators.
On behalf of the faculty, I invite you to explore the possibilities of starting or continuing your nursing career with us at City Tech.
