Thank you for your interest in our degree programs in hospitality and tourism management.
The hospitality industry is one of the largest in the United States. With annual expenditures of over $2 trillion, hospitality and tourism have become the world's largest industry.
Restaurants, hotels, motels, conference centers, catering establishments and other hospitality operations offer a myriad of exciting and rewarding career opportunities in food, beverage and lodging and management, particularly in the New York metropolitan area.
At City Tech, we offer three degree programs targeted to individuals interested in careers in the hospitality/tourism industry:
- Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Hospitality Management
- Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Tourism Management
- Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Hospitality Management
These options are regarded as among the finest and most affordable programs of their kind in the country. Many well-known chefs are counted among our alumni, including Noche's Michael Lomonaco, Union Square Café's Michael Romano and Spago Beverly Hills' Sherry Yard.
Our associate degree program features top-notch cooking, baking and pastry classes. In this way we provide a superior educational experience that trains the whole hospitality management professional. Taking classes in our culinary/pastry/baking labs extends your education into the real world where our formal dining room experience ensures on-the-job training.
New
York City, the international center of culinary arts, pastry arts,
hospitality and tourism, offers you unparalleled opportunities for
first-hand observation of world-class hospitality enterprise and
unequalled possibilities for full-time and part-time employment
in the field-jobs that bring you into close day-to-day contact with
leading executive chefs, restaurant managers, general managers,
marketing executives, housekeepers, travel consultants, destination-tourism
sales representatives, caterers, foodservice managers, school food
service managers, destination planning analysts, and many others
on the cutting edge of growth and change in the industry.
Students in the hospitality management department study in small classes and professionally equipped cooking, baking and production labs under the guidance of expert faculty. We also provide opportunities for studying and interning in some of the world's finest restaurants, hotels and tourism facilities, both here and abroad.
Students with valid passports and in some cases, visas, can apply to participate in several popular international programs. These include:
- The Paris Exchange Summer Study Program
- The Walt Disney World College Program
- The International Work Program
- The International Study Program
The hospitality management department also offers a multi-disciplinary option in tourism in our BTech degree program. Students who complete the City Tech associate's degree in hospitality management or are graduates of other accredited travel and tourism associate degree programs can transfer into this upper-level option.
Those following the tourism track take a core of hospitality management courses combined with tourism courses that prepare them for a management career in the fields of meeting planning, destination development, resort/convention/conference marketing and/or policy development
