Hospitality Management
Professor Akana started his career as a Program Budget Analyst for the State of Hawaii, specializing in Educational Programs. After receiving an AOS degree in Baking and Pastry from the Culinary Institute of America, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Hospitality Management Department at the University of Hawaii. He eventually left teaching to open a Café and Catering Company based in Kailua Hawaii which he operated for six years.
More recently he was the Assistant Director of Education at the French Culinary Institute and worked as a Financial Consultant for Company Model Management. Professor Akana completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at The University of Hawaii and an MBA at Chaminade University.
