Michael Banta currently works in the Engineering Department of Hudson Scenic Studio. Previous positions include Assistant Technical Director at New York City Opera, Associate Production Manager at Bard Summerscape Festival, and Scene Shop Supervisor at Glimmerglass Opera. He has worked in production at the New Haven International Festival of Arts and Ideas, Utah Shakespearean Festival, Penn State University, and Theatre Virginia, and has worked as a freelance stagehand in theatres around the US. Michael holds an MFA in Technical Design and Production from Yale School of Drama and a BA in Drama from the University of Virginia, and is a member of IATSE Local 636.
