Prof. Dillon has served as chairperson of the Dental Hygiene Department of New York City College of Technology (NYCCT) for over 6 years. An alumna, she received her Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from NYCCT, after which she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Columbia University. She obtained her Master of Arts degree in Health Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prof. Dillon is also a recipient of the 2010 ADEA Colgate Palmolive Company Allied Program Directors’ scholarship and a recipient of a one year fellowship at the ADEA Leadership Institute from which she graduated in 2011.

She has over thirty eight years of experience in clinical dental hygiene practice. Along with her clinical experience, she also has over twenty three years of experience as a dental hygiene educator (with an emphasis on Periodontology and Clinical Practice). She has taught Dental Hygiene at New York University and Hostos Community College and has also lectured nationally and internationally on topics such as infection control, periodontal classification, periodontal measurements and geriatric dentistry and has published articles on various topics.

As one of only three dental hygienists on the New York State Board for Dentistry (NYSBD), the governing body for discipline, licensure and legislation in New York State, she served two five year terms and now continues to serve as an extended member. She is an examiner for the Northeast Regional Board for Dentistry; and serves as a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Prof. Dillon makes herself available for community dental workshops and career guidance and believes that to whom much is given much is required, hence her willingness to serve. Although she has been in the profession of Dental Hygiene for many years, Prof. Dillon continues to be passionate about her multifaceted career.
