Networking Fundamentals – Introduces fundamental computer networking concepts and skills. Provides instruction in networking media, physical and logical topologies, and common networking standards and protocols. Conceptual framework of the OSI model, and its implementation with the TCP/IP and other network protocols. Both networking design and analysis methods. Provides knowledge necessary to design, install, configure and support network infrastructure effectively. Networking administration skills are developed for different operating systems.

Computer Systems Management and Support – This course introduces the student to the intricacies of a computer system and the desktop environment and provides the student with the skills needed to perform common daily functions in the complex computing environments of small, medium, or large organizations. The major emphasis in this course will be on providing hands-on exercises and labs to help the student gain the necessary skills to support the desktop environment as well as give the student the theoretical foundations needed to understand the basic components of computer systems and how they interact.

Associate in Applied Science in Computer Information Systems

The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Computer Information System (CIS) prepares students for entry-level careers in computer programming, database programming, web programming, and systems/network administration and support.

Our program offers a solid foundation in the field of computer information systems as well as an introduction to the most current computer technology. The 60 credits required for the degree includes 30 credits in Computer Systems and 30 credits from Liberal Arts and Sciences. The 30 credits in the core curriculum help to prepare students for subsequent academic work and give them the intellectual tools to be life-long learners. Students graduating from the associate degree program will be well prepared for a seamless transition into the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Systems. Students will also be well prepared for entry-level careers.

The program is consistently under review and is modified whenever necessary to reflect current trends in computer technology. Today's IT professionals need to be able to understand and manipulate different operating systems, at both the PC and the server level. They need to be able to move effortlessly across platforms. This program is an ideal starting point for tomorrow's IT professionals.
