Research Interests:

  • Design and synthesis of small molecules as ionophores for the understanding of the role that metal ions play in Alzheimer's disease.
  • Chemotherapy of Malaria: Synthesis and mechanistic studies of organometallic ruthenium compounds of chloroquine and organic/organometallic 1,2,4-trioxane derivatives.
  • Design and synthesis of Ru(II) and Ru(III) complexes of azole molecules with sterol biosynthesis inhibitor (SBI) properties for the treatment of trypanosomatid diseases.
  • Synthesis and mechanistic studies of Pt(II) and Pt(IV) coordination complexes with antitumor properties.
