Welcome to the Department of Computer Engineering Technology (CETech).
Our department offers two programs: Electromechanical Engineering Technology, which leads to an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree (two years); and Computer Engineering Technology (CET), which leads to a Bachelor of Technology
degree.
As a City Tech student, you will benefit from:
· Theoretical and practical foundations of current technology.
· Hands-on experience that will provide practical skills you will use in your career.
· Accomplished faculty members who bring a wealth of knowledge from industry and business.
· A friendly atmosphere for each individual.
· Well-equipped laboratory settings, modern computers and measuring instruments.
Our department teaches students the basics of electrical technology, mechanical technology, computer hardware, computer software and computer networking, and the integration of these technologies with computer control of electromechanical devices.
Graduates may work with the familiar workstations or servers found on corporate desktops or in "back offices," or they may work with "embedded" PCs, carrying out measurement and control functions in settings ranging from hospitals to transportation systems to electrical power plants. The computers they work with may perform routine computing tasks or serve as the "brains" of a variety of "smart" devices, such as industrial robots. While these computers may function as individual units, it is increasingly likely that they will be interconnected to a neighboring PC, a local area network or the Internet.
