Highlights from the CET department ....
- Profs. B. Mendoza, H. Wu, J. Reyes Alamo, A. Carranza were awarded with a Perkins for a project titled "Building a Video Lecture Library and an Interactive System for Learning and Practicing Computer Programming Concepts", 2012–2013
- Two City Tech teams won the 1st place and 3rd place of the Robotics Tournament of Champions, a competition for NY metro and NY state colleges/universities hosted at CityTech on April 2012
- STEP Academy @ City Tech Robotics Team Takes Third Place at the Robotics Competition held during the 14th Annual STEP Statewide Conference in Albany. (Read More »)
- During the academic year 2007 – 2008 the CET faculty has mentored over 15 students with their projects through the LSAMP program
- Prof. A. Carranza has been awarded the GRTI grant for conducting research on Storage Area Networks, 2008 – 2009
- Profs I. Heng, R. Rajaravivarma, and F. Zia were the Co-PIs for the Perkins grant titled Integrating Emerging Technologies for Collaborative Learning, 2008 – 2009
- Prof. E. Morton published an article titled High Quality, non-contact analog record and playback system in the Sony Technical Digest.
- Prof. C. Frenz’s paper (with G. Martyn) on ESPSim: A JAVA Application for Calculating Electrostatic Potential Map Similarity Scores has been accepted for publication in 2008 BIOCOMP Proceedings
- Students Adewale Adesanya and Abdel Berrio (LSAMP mentor – Prof. E. Morton) were invited to present a poster at the Peach State LSAMP Student Research held at Savannah State Univ., Savannah, GA , September 18 -20, 2008
- Prof. R. Woytowich underwent a one - week course on Nondestructive Testing at ASM International, Materials Park, Ohio in July 2008
- Prof. R. Rajaravivarma (with Angela Kelly, Jinlin Chen, Serigne Gningue, and Subash Shankar) has been awarded a grant for Research into Outcomes of NSF STEM Education Grants at CUNY
- Prof. E. Morton presented a paper on Remote Ultrasonic Distance Measurement Systems at the 2008 Sensor expo technical conference held in Chicago, IL, June 2008
- Prof. C. Frenz, has published an article titled Engineering Nature’s Nanotech in the 2008 IEEE Potentials (Volume 27:2, Pages 15-17)
- Prof. Richard Woytowich presented on Breakup of RMS Titanic (co - presented with Roy Mengot of UGS) at 2008 Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers Annual Meeting, Fort Lauderdale, FL
- Student Jhonatan Echavarria’s work (LSAMP mentor – Prof. C. Frenz) on Improving Elevator Call Time Responsiveness via an Artificial Neural Network Control Mechanism was presented at the NY City College
- A week long short course on High Performance Computing (HPC) was attended by Prof. I. Heng and Prof. C. Frenz at the CUNY Graduate Center in January 2008
- Prof. E. Morton presented a poster titled Basic Stamp Microcontroller Sensor and Control Applications at the 2007 Faculty Poster Presentation at NYCCT
- Prof. R. Rajaravivarma presented a poster titled Mobile Internet at the 2007 Faculty Poster Presentation at NYCCT
- Prof. A. Carranza has also been awarded Perkins Grant (Joint Application with Candido Cabo CST Department) to create the Linux Cluster Seed
- Prof. C. Frenz, has published an article titled Petaflop Machine Enabled Simulation of Molecular Evolution at an Atomic Scale in the 2007 Computing in Science and Engineering journal, (Volume 9:6, Pages 73-4)
- Prof. C. Frenz, has published an article titled Deafness mutation mining using regular expression based pattern matching in the 2007 BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making journal, (Volume 7, 32)
- Prof. A. Carranza has been awarded Perkins Grant to enhance the use of CPLDs and FPGAs in the curriculum using Digital Training kits in 2006
