Students and Faculty Meet with Local Officials on Upstate Waterfront Redevelopment Project

As reported earlier this year, City Tech architectural technology students and faculty have been working with local officials in the upstate Town of Warwick on a unique long-distance cooperative venture designed to transform a former marina site purchased by the town with funds allocated to preserving open spaces into a beach and waterfront park on ten-mile-long Greenwood Lake. The partnership was facilitated by former City Tech Acting President Emilie A. Cozzi.
In August, impressive presentations by students and faculty gave Town of Warwick residents and officials a good idea of how the beach site could look if redeveloped according to one of the several proposed student designs. The presentations included sophisticated scale models, architectural drawings and animations. The accompanying photo shows architectural technology student Sean Dinniene with a model of his concept for redevelopment of the waterfront.
Town Councilman Len DeBuck said that the presentations should “inspire us to carry the students’ vision from design state to reality.”
