Professor Maldonado specializes in high-end residential design, frequently in dramatic, challenging sites. His professional experience has also included design for airports, college buildings, medical and commercial facilities. His designs have been built throughout the United States, as well as inEngland, Germany, Argentina and Central America. His projects have been featured in professional publications.
Professor Maldonado played an important role in obtaining landmark designation for the Tudor City Historic District. He continues to work with this community in Manhattan.He also spearheaded the design of a new waterfront park for the Village of Greenwood Lake and is currently developing a master plan study for the town.
For over six years he has provided pro-bono design services to Medical Mission International, a Nobel Peace Prize nominated group of doctors and surgeons.A forty-acre site in El Salvador is currently being developed under his direction to house a surgical center, accompanying housing, a school, workshops and support facilities.
Prof. Maldonado servedas President of the New York Council of the Society of American Registered Architects and as Interim Dean of the School of Technology and Design at our college. He is currently the chair of the Celebration of Architecture and Design awards program for SARA/NY.
