‘Paella Parade’ Fundraiser Nets $5,625 Gift for Hospitality Management Program

New York City College of Technology Department of Hospitality Management Professor Karen Goodlad is all smiles as she proudly displays a check in the amount of $5,625 presented to the department by Frederick Wildman and Sons, Inc. The firm is a U.S. importer of fine wines, ardent supporter of the College’s culinary arts program and sponsor of ‘Paella Parade,’ a food and wine tasting fundraiser that featured the offerings of 10 restaurant competing for top honors in a “best paella” contest judged by cookbook author and TV personality Daisy Martinez. Action Against Hunger, an international network committed to saving the lives of malnourished children and families worldwide, also shared in the proceeds.

An estimated 450 people paid to attend the June 7 tasting held at the South Street Seaport, with 50 percent of the proceeds going to City Tech’s hospitality management program. More than 20 students volunteered to assist at the event under the direction of Professor Joanne Jacus. Professor Goodlad served as faculty contact with Frederick Wildman and Sons, Inc.
