Gracie Mansion Executive Chef Stays the Course for City Tech Degree

Gracie Mansion’s executive chef Feliberto (Fili) Estevez with his professor and mentor Lynda Dias (hospitality management) at City Tech’s June 1 commencement in the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden. He was one of more than 1,000 graduating seniors who participated in the College’s 69th commencement. Estevez, who was awarded an associate degree, plans on continuing on for his bachelor's degree. "At some point, I'd like to teach," says Estevez of his future plans. Estevez, who had to balance his college and professional life, graduated seven years after enrolling. His mother flew up from the Dominican Republic to attend his graduation. Gracie Mansion is used by Mayor Mike Bloomberg as the setting for meetings and events.
