‘Poetry on the Plaza’ Attracts Large Audience

‘Poetry on the Plaza’ Attracts Large Audience

A little rain did not dampen the spirit of City Tech's Poetry on the Plaza event. Instead of being held outdoors in Cadman Plaza Park, the event was moved to Klitgord Center Auditorium. Willie Perdomo and City Tech students, faculty, staff and alumni read and performed their work in front of an enthusiastic crowd of several hundred people. Kudos to English Professor Caroline Hellman for organizing the event!

In addition to Willie Perdomo, the evening – a Brooklyn Book Festival Bookend event – featured City Tech Peace Officer David Edwards, aka Poetic Justice. "Poetry on the Plaza places City Tech's talented students solidly within the arts community in Brooklyn,” says Professor Hellman. “We were thrilled to partner with spoken word poet Willie Perdomo and David Edwards, and to have been a part of the Brooklyn Book Festival, which took place right outside our campus.
